The Sydney Neuro-Oncology Group has supported the development of the "Brain Tumour Support Group", the first group of its kind in NSW.
The brain tumour support group is an initiative that began in February 2001. The purpose of the group is to provide both patients and families with education and support as well as an environment where patients and families can meet and share their experiences.
There are two types of sessions that are available. One is an education session given by health professionals (medical, nursing, physiotherapy, etc) that provides information relevant to brain tumour patients and their families. The other is a small group session that provides patients/families with an opportunity to meet with others in similar circumstances.
